behind-the-scenes of the girl behind your screens

I share a lot of my life in short clips on socials- from the reality of weddings and married life to my Chattanooga adventures on @webbchatts. But if you wanna go a little bit deeper and get some context about this content creator... here's a little more about me!

shayna quick facts:

🔥I’m 25 (1999 baby!), born in Iowa (lived a few years in Texas) but have lived in Tennessee since 2009. I grew up in West TN (Collierville/ Memphis), then moved to East TN for college in 2018. I went to @leeuniversity in Cleveland, TN (go flames!) where I graduated with a BS in Digital Media Journalism and Public Relations in 2022. I moved to Chattanooga right after graduating!

❤️I am so thankful to call Jesus my savior! My favorite verse is Romans 12:2. My favorite TV show is The Chosen, it has changed the way I understand my faith & helped me so much!

🥍I played lacrosse for 10 years (the last 4 being at the D2 collegiate level with @leeuwlax !!) Now I get to coach high schoolers in Chattanooga at @baylorgirlslax

💋I have the coolest husband. He proposed in front of the Walnut St Bridge in 2021 & we got married in 2022. We are each others #1 fans & I'm so lucky to live life w my best friend!

🥹I LOVE MY FAMILY! I'm the oldest of 5 girls & my 4 younger sisters are everything to me!

the backstory:
a love for story-telling

Happy couple getting married

I believe my love for storytelling truly stems from the fact that I am the oldest of 5 daughters (yes, my dad is FINE and he LOVES us!) Growing up, I loved scrapbooking, reading/writing story books, journaling about my middle school crushes (#real), and directing my sisters to lip-sync music videos with terrible iMovie edits (hey, we all had to start content somewhere!). This translated into a love for performing on stage (yes, my high school superlative was "Most Theatrical"), and always being the friend who brought her camera everywhere to capture memories (which ended up landing me a job as my high school senior yearbook editor- which is truly where I peaked lol).

Heading to college, my plan was to become a TV News reporter. I had a passion for journalism and worked multiple on campus jobs sharing both sports news and school news (all my friends will remember me saying "I'm Shayna, and you've just been updated" in the campus chapel news videos weekly!) I graduated from Lee (and gave a graduation speech while doing finger guns into the camera) and started a nonprofit Marketing job in May 2022, and then got married that July. But my wedding planning process was a whirlwind that ultimately led me to truly understand the power of social media and unique storytelling when a TikTok I shared about my vision for a "The Office" themed wedding video (with side interviews and just the REAL, authentic moments) went viral (15 million+ views!)

The TikTok Era + Community

TikTok is truly what showed me the power in social media and switched my career path from wanting to be on TV to pursuing all things social. I went "viral" for the first time in 2019 for lacrosse content, and then kept experimenting from there. In 2022, I began a "Wedding Hacks" series (tips and tricks for budget brides- because hey with 5 daughters, I was a bride on a BUDGET!) that went viral. With tens of millions of views throughout a year of posting TikToks EVERYDAY, it was truly doing this that taught me more about social media than school ever could. I pushed down “perfectionism” and just shared reality, while trying experimenting with different content types. I saw the power of social media, the reach possible, got a taste for brand deals, and perfected my iPhone content creation skills through my @shayna_webb TikTok that I grew 130k+ followers in, in just one year. I also LOVED building COMMUNITY through social, making some of my best friends through comment sections and DMs. Though I am not as active on TikTok anymore, I transferred my bridal community to a thriving Facebook group (“young married wifeys”) that connects young women in the same stage of life from across the country.

Starting a wedding business

Through growing a community of brides on TikTok, I saw the growing desire for unique, #real, candid wedding moments captured. I was also a memory-loving bride, who had multiple videographers capturing every moment (which I am so thankful for!)...but they captured everything on their cameras- so I was not really able to just keep the real, unedited moment on my phone (file sizes are huge, need for color-correcting, etc. But a wedding VIDEOGRAPHER is great for a 5-10 minute cinematic recap! I am talking about keeping individual clips here!). I found myself LOVING the few, less-polished iPhone memories I had from my wedding day. And I heard so many brides talking about how they also wanted more of the candid, “as it happens” moments captured. So, with 2 iPhones, my eye for “the little things”, a mini-mic for guest interviews and a passion for helping other brides remember all the moments of their best day ever, Wed with Webb was born in the summer of 2023!

And then came @webbchatts...

Sharing Chattanooga vlogs was something I had been wanting to do ever since I moved to what I believe to be the best city in America. And in May 2024, I finally began my webbchatts account on Instagram- getting over my fears of worrying people would think (for some reason, Instagram felt scarier to me than TikTok, but with the 2024 “TikTok ban” I knew I needed to move platforms!) My mission was simple: To showcase the vibrant culture, flavors, and beauty of Chattanooga. In October, God closed the door at my full-time job and opened more opportunities for content creation in Chattanooga (through freelance social media management and UGC, more weddings, as well as paid opportunities for webbchatts!) and I took a scary step in my content creation journey and went fulltime into the freelance world. I am so thankful to get to do what I do, helping local Chattanooga businesses grow through the power of social media!
