Genesis House of Tea: The Perfect Girls’ Day Out in Chattanooga

Published on

Looking for a charming spot that combines tea, tasty treats, and a meaningful mission? The Genesis House of Tea, located in the historic Dent House off Bonny Oaks, is one of Chattanooga's most BEAUTIFUL places for a girls' day out, bridal shower, baby shower, or engagement party in chattanooga. This tea house offers a Bridgerton-inspired experience with a side of Kentucky Derby flair, complete with fancy hats you can borrow for your visit!

When you arrive, you'll be greeted by a selection of hats to channel your inner duchess while enjoying the house’s cozy atmosphere. Start your tea experience with my favorite- their “Royal Wedding” tea- or one of their seasonal flavors (like Spiced Peach Apricot with popping boba, Pumpkin Chai, or Caramel Apple Crumble in the fall)! The tea menu is thoughtfully curated, with free refills so you can sip as much as you like!

The food is just as cute as the tea. Indulge in a tiered platter featuring sweet and savory items like buttery scones, delicate sandwiches, and flavorful quiches. These dishes are perfect for sharing and add an elegant touch to your outing. I LOVE THE SCONES! And I never thought I would be a scones girl… but these are GOOD!

Also worth noting, the Genesis House of Tea is more than just a beautiful brunch spot—it’s a place with purpose. Every purchase supports their mission to restore beauty, dignity, and identity to women in crisis through nonprofit partnerships. Upstairs, you’ll find a boutique where proceeds further these initiatives, making your visit not just a treat but an opportunity to give back.

📍 Location: 6178 Adamson Cir., Chattanooga, TN 37416
🕐 Hours: Open 11 AM - 4 PM, closed Wednesday and Sunday

Whether you’re sipping tea with your best friends or celebrating a special occasion, the Genesis House of Tea guarantees a memorable and meaningful experience.

Nestled in the heart of NorthShore at the corner of Frazier and Market (by the big blue Chattanooga bridge you drive across), this family-owned shop is dedicated to showcasing the best of Tennessee’s makers, artists, and small businesses. Whether you’re a local searching for a unique birthday gift or a tourist hunting for a Chattanooga souvenir, Locals Only Gifts & Goods has something for everyone.

What sets this shop apart is its curated selection of high-quality, locally made products. You’ll find favorites like Hoff Sauce, MoonPies, and Good Fortune Soap, alongside newer discoveries like Strange Wicks candles, Adrienne Powell’s art, and handcrafted jewelry. Locals Only makes gift-giving easy with pre-made gift boxes or the option to create your own. Personalizing a box is a breeze, as the store is packed with Chattanooga swag, artisanal food items, and unique gifts for any occasion.

During my last visit, I put together a gift box for my sister’s birthday. I included a Book Lovers candle from Strange Wicks (perfect since she’s dating an author), some Alchemy Spice blends (since she loves to cook!), and a bar of Good Fortune Soap (all natural!). She loved it! The thoughtfulness behind every item makes this shop a standout.

More than just a store, Locals Only is a community hub that champions small businesses. By shopping here, you’re directly supporting local entrepreneurs and helping to keep Chattanooga’s creative spirit alive.

📍 Location: 10 Frazier Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37405 (across from Walgreens)
🕐 Hours: Monday-Saturday 10 AM - 6 PM, Sunday 12 PM - 6 PM

A Feast for the Senses

The moment you walk in, you’re greeted by a towering two-story dry-aged meat locker, a full bar, modern décor, and even a live plant wall. It’s an impressive setting that sets the stage for an unforgettable meal. Upstairs, there’s a private event space that’s ideal for celebrations like birthdays, engagement parties, or Friendsgiving gatherings.

The Steak That Melts in Your Mouth

Zaya specializes in premium Korean steakhouse-style dining, and their attention to detail is second to none. Their Butcher’s Feast is a must-try, featuring a variety of hand-selected meats cooked tableside by expert servers. Every bite of steak is so tender you won’t even need a knife.

Standout dishes include:

  1. The Zaya Steak: Bursting with flavor.
  2. Dry-Aged Tomahawk Steak: Exceptionally rich and tender.
  3. Delmonico Steak: A fan-favorite that’s absolutely mind-blowing.
  4. A5 Japanese Miyazaki Wagyu: The star of the show. This world-class Wagyu literally melts in your mouth and is a must-try for any steak lover. (It is expensive…but WORTH IT atleast once in your life!)

More Than Just Steak

The meal is served family-style, creating a fun and communal dining experience. In addition to their premium steaks, Zaya offers a wide selection of appetizers and sides that pair perfectly with the main dishes. (The glazed sweet potatoes are SOOO GOOOD!)

Looking for holiday magic in Chattanooga? Rock City’s Enchanted Garden of Lights is a must-see event happening now (November 15) through January 4th (closed December 24th). This year marks the 30th anniversary of this award-winning light display, and it’s bigger and better than ever!

For the first time in history, you can step inside the Rock City founder’s house, Carter Cliffs, to meet Santa and see a live action toy soldier. Another exciting addition this year is the chance to walk the famous swinging bridge at night, surrounded by breathtaking lights. As you explore, unique snow globes will guide you through the park’s different themed trail loops, making the experience even more magical.

Of course, all the Rock City classics are still part of the fun. Stroll through the enchanting Fairyland Caverns, challenge yourself at Fat Man Squeeze, marvel at the colorful Rainbow Hall, and take in the stunning views of Lover’s Leap and the waterfall. Each path offers its own unique charm, so there’s something for everyone in the family to enjoy.

📍 Location: 1400 Patten Rd., Lookout Mountain, GA 30750 (just 10 minutes from downtown Chattanooga)
🎟️ Tickets: Available on Rock City’s website: https://www.seerockcity.com/enchanted-garden-of-lights/

💡 Pro Tip: Need a cozy place to stay? Check out the Chanticleer Inn, located right across the street. They’re offering a special package right now that includes tickets to the Enchanted Garden of Lights, a gourmet hot cocoa bar, and extra holiday goodies.

Make this holiday season unforgettable by visiting Rock City’s Enchanted Garden of Lights. Grab your tickets, bring your loved ones, and see why this event has been a Chattanooga favorite for 30 years.
